Located beside Indian Boundary Park, Park Castle apartments were built in the late 1920s as an elegant housing option. At the time the complex even had a moat with swans swimming in it.
For Open House Chicago we couldn’t enter the apartments, but each locked door had a poster with photos of some of the interiors.
Visitors were allowed inside of the pool, which is shamed like Italy. The wall have mosaic trees and overhead is a canvas tent-like covering.
When these were built in the 1920s they were the height of luxury. The plan was to build a Park Chateau and other elegant apartments, but the Great Depression hit and those plans were scrapped.
Beautiful!
