Sepia Saturday

Sepia Saturday 461 : 16 March 2019

Kids dancing: timeless and this week’s inspiration for Sepia Saturday. I wanted some variety: proms, sock hops, the Charleston, what have you.

What gives with the shoes at a sock hop?

The young man’s hair reminds me of the 1950s.

But they’re wearing shoes. Wikipedia states that at sock hops dancers removed their shoes. Hmm.

  1. Shoes at a sock hop – funny. But come to think of it, I don’t remember ever being required to remove our shoes, probably because our dances were in the school cafeteria. Had they been in the gym, maybe we would have been required to dance in our socks in order to protect the basketball court.

  2. We had sock hops when I was in Jr. High and we definitely had to take our shoes off because they were held in the gym. High School dances, however, were held in the cafeteria, so shoes stayed on.
