Word of the Week

clem – verb (used with or without object), clemmed, clemming. British Dialect.
1.to starve. It comes from Middle English and dates back to 1504 according to dictionary.com.

I’m reading Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South, which is set in the north of England and this word pops up quite a bit.
