This week’s prompt inspired me to look for vintage Macy’s Thanksgiving’s Day Parade photos. The parade began in 1924 and features lots of huge balloons of popular characters. Here’s some from the 1930’s.

I knew the parade had bee around a long time, but I didn’t know the balloons went back that far. I watched part of it on TV today.

Those giant balloons are as fantastic as the ones in yesterday’s parade.

What a timely fashion this is. I hope to someday make it there and see it live!

Mickey’s hard to beat but I like that flying ant or whatever it is too.

Ahhh, Macy’s parades, such a Thanksgiving tradition! I think I like the giant ant, kind of right out of an old horror movie!

That third one make me shudder — others have suggested an alien or an ant; I have no idea, but I do know I don’t want to find one in a kitchen cabinet…

Those balloon characters are fantastic! I don’t think we have anything similar here in Australia.
