The dapper soldiers in the prompt led me to hunt for some other military photos. Here’s what I found:

    Funny how the sepia tones in the second “shot” make it look almost as if he’s wearing makeup. Mind you, it’s probably sunburn.


  2. I think the Union boy is holding a US Navy issue Colt! My family has one that’s been passed down from a great-grandfather…it weighs a lot; I can’t imagine anybody being accurate with it!


  3. Such an ornate frame for the Union soldier! And I do find it interesting that the soldier had his photo taken while holding his firearm. Of the photos I possess of my Civil War ancestors, none of them are holding a firearm.
