Share Your World: Week 30

Here are the four Share Your World questions for this week.    I hope you have some fun playing along.  It sure is fun learning about all of us.

  1. You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?
  2. If you were the original designer of one existing corporate logo, which one would you select?
  3. If you could be a student of any university in the world right now, where would you enroll?  Irregardless of which university assume they teach what you want to study.
  4. If you had to spend one weekend alone in a single public building or institution, which building would you choose?

See my answers below.

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

I will be putting out four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a  Share Your World  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I will state the questions first and then post my answers in the bottom part of my blog.

  1. You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself? Since they’re supposed to all be fascinating, of course, I’d go. I think I’d learn a lot and while it might be awkward at first, I’d soon find a group to chat with.
  2. If you were the original designer of one existing corporate logo, which one would you select? Apple’s the first one that comes to mind. I’m not sure why.
  3. If you could be a student of any university in the world right now, where would you enroll?  Irregardless of which university assume they teach what you want to study. While there are lots of great universities in the U.S. I’ve gone that route. I’d be happy to go to Sophia University in Tokyo. That’s my dream school to work for and as a student, I could take advantage of their courses on Asian culture taught in English. I wouldn’t mind doing a Semester at Sea program either, but I really don’t want to be aboard a boat with so many 20 somethings.
  4. If you had to spend one weekend alone in a single public building or institution, which building would you choose? The Louvre to commune with all the art.

Am I driven by my heart or my head?

This is the Daily Post prompt. I’ll take a stab.

My answer is neither. I’m primarily instinctive. According to the Enneagram system, I’m a One. Thus I feel most confident when I follow my gut to decide. Now I can be wrong, but so can heart or head centered people.

Type One Overview

We have named personality type One The Reformer because Ones have a “sense of mission” that leads them to want to improve the world in various ways, using whatever degree of influence they have. They strive to overcome adversity—particularly moral adversity—so that the human spirit can shine through and make a difference. They strive after “higher values,” even at the cost of great personal sacrifice.

History is full of Ones who have left comfortable lives to do something extraordinary because they felt that something higher was calling them. During the Second World War, Raoul Wallenburg left a comfortable middle-class life to work for the protection of thousands of European Jews from invading Nazis. In India, Gandhi left behind his wife and family and life as a successful lawyer to become an itinerant advocate of Indian independence and non-violent social changes. Joan of Arc left her village in France to restore the throne to the Dauphin and to expel the English from the country. The idealism of each of these Ones has inspired millions.

Ones are people of practical action—they wish to be useful in the best sense of the word. On some level of consciousness, they feel that they “have a mission” to fulfill in life, if only to try their best to reduce the disorder they see in their environment.

Famous Ones include Hillary Clinton, Ralph Nadar, Bill Moyers, Gandhi, Meryl Streep, and Kathryn Hepburn.
