Sugary Milk

Last night I saw the first episode of Jamie Oliver’s second Food Revolution. This year he goes to L.A. where they do anything but roll out the red carpet.

One focus was on flavored milk something Oliver decries. He attended a convention for school nutritionists and I was aghast at the percentage of attendees who were obese. They had talks on such flavored milk and the speaker was clearly biased.

Here’s more from Jamie on milk and there’s a petition on the website if you want to put the legislature’s feet to the fire.

Dear friend,
Too much sugar is threatening the health of our kids and we’ve got to do something about it. Sugar is a major contributor to health problems like diabetes and hypertension, and kids are getting loads of extra sugar from drinking sweetened chocolate and strawberry milk at school.

Jamie Oliver and the Food Revolution are asking schools to switch back to plain, wholesome milk, and make sugary flavored milk an occasional treat – will you sign in support of this simple switch for better health?
